| We have begun the process of weaning off the bottle- not that I plan on them being done with it any time soon! But they are down from 5 bottles a day to 3- the hardest has been that first morning bottle- from about 7 AM on they whine for it and look at me like I am the devil when I offer them a cup! lol
Anyone started the process?

| Thankfully, the process of weaning off the bottle was started by Louis. He weaned himself down to 2 bottles a day but those two will be a pain to get rid of.
I shot myself in the foot by letting him use the bottle to get to sleep on and I've not tried getting him out of it yet. Talk about making a rod for my own back. lol He'll only go down for the night and his one nap a day, with a bottle.
I think him weaning himself off his bottles was down to me introducing a "fruity hour" when his 3 - 4 o'clock bottle would be and he has full access to his sippy cup all day, every day.

| I'm starting it too and he has been very whiny. We are down to 4 a day but I'm not sure which one to cut out next! I've tried replacing them with solids and a cup. He eats the food, then looks at me and says , "baba?" | |

| Our nutritionist suggested giving them whole milk in the cup, then gradually watering down the milk in the bottle- I haven't been brave enough to start this yet, but I think that's how we'll get them off the bedtime bottle (Which is the one I foresee having the mostissue with!) | |

| That's interesting Heyy. It doesn't seem to address the issue of being attached to the bottle though. I tried taking out his 11 am bottle today and he barely noticed. I gave him his favorite snack (yogurt with blueberries and raspberries). I'll work on the next ones over the summer. Thankfully, he's accepting the cup more. He likes the straw sippy cups, so we bought a few extras. He drinks a few ounces. I know he's done when he spits it down his bib and blows raspberries! :dohh: | |

| I guess the idea is that since the cup has the real full milk in it, they will prefer the cup and gradually let go of the bottle? | |

| I was really lucky with Noah, he weaned off a bottle on his own at 18 months so i'm not too worried about william still being on a bottle at the moment, the one i am dreading is the dreadeded dummy!! he is a dummy addict | |

| The girls weaned themselves off the dummy at 5 months, and off BF at 6 months- I guess I'm just crossing my fingers that they will self wean from the bottle when they are ready! I am not opposed to them having a bottle (within reason) well past their 2nd birthday, so no hurry! I think babies need that comfort of sucking/nursing | |
